Japanese Showa 昭和 Ten Sen 錢十


This coin was in circulation between 1933 and 1937 during the Showa empire. The front of this coin features the value 錢 十 (10 Sen) below the Imperial Seal of Japan, which is represented by the image of a chrysanthemum.
On the back the state title and date are written from right to left as: 本日大(Great Japan); the date of minting is represented as 年 followed by the number of years the emperor had been in power as of that year; ending with 昭和 (Showa Empire).
The coin is 22 mm, which is approximately the diameter of a U.S. nickel; the chain is sterling silver.
